The Long Road Home is more enjoyable than I expected. I wasn’t enjoying the book at first. I thought the violence Gabrielle’s mother showed towards her was so extreme it was ridiculous. It was too much at times. Instead of developing sympathy towards Gabrielle it just put me off reading the book. I didn’t have any sympathy at all.
